Work Experience at QuayClick Web Design Agency in Exeter

Jack Warne • Feb 02, 2018

We were delighted to have a student fromSouth Devon College on work experience with us last week. Before he finished weasked him for a few words about his experience working in our Exeter web design agency, which we are sharing below.

What I have learned

Although my work experience was only three days long, I have learned a lot of new things related to marketing and the use of social media. I have been introduced to new websites that have improved the way that I work. These websites can help me analyze how a business website performs, for example MOZ local and SE Ranking. Another thing I was introduced to was a website called ‘ Hootsuite ’ which is a social media tool that helps you create a schedule for where and when you want your posts to be uploaded. I found this to be very useful and managed to create my own schedule for Revs West ; the business that I do digital marketing for.

My experience

Simon and his team were very friendly and were happy to help me at any time, in the best way they could. For this I’m very grateful. It was also a pleasure to meet a group of people with such long experience, who gave me very important advice about marketing that I will keep in mind for the future. I also liked the relaxed atmosphere of the whole Exeter office, where it was nice to talk to other people and get to know them and their businesses.

Skills

From my work experience I have definitely gained new skills, for example I have learned to use new tools efficiently and in an effective way. I have also improved my communication skills, for example by asking questions when I wasn’t sure about something. But also I have learned that being organised is very important in marketing, especially if you’re responsible for a number of businesses at the same time. If you are more organised it means that there’s less confusion, and the work can be done to a better standard.

Future decisions

I believe that this work experience with QuayClick in Exeter has helped me to decide what path to take towards my future and I now have a more clear idea on what it’s like to work in a marketing job in a web design agency. I always felt enthusiastic and was keen to learn new things, so I know I already have a big interest in this industry. For the future I’m going to try and gain as much experience as possible which will help me move forward in the right direction and achieve the best I can. This experience was very helpful to me, and I’d like to thank Simon and his team at QuayClick in Exeter, for taking their time to help me learn new and important things.
